This extends to the off train service as well; a red carpet and fanfare greet passengers at every station call. Decorated in elegant deep red and gold hues, the train is furnished in a timeless style, but with every modern convenience.
Your accommodation is in Deluxe cabins. These generously-sized cabins are all en suite and sleep two people in either a double bed, or twin lower-berth beds. They feature a wealth of amenities such as air conditioning, LCD television, telephone, safe and wardrobe, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi access. Each cabin is also attended by a butler – with inclusive tea, coffee, water and snacks available at all times.
Explore some of the most beautiful parts of India on board this excellent train. From Delhi to Lucknow, discover the Golden Triangle of this ridiculously colourful country. Discover the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur and it’s incredible Amber Fort, try and catch a glimpse of a rare tiger in Ranthambore and enjoy the ‘Dances of India’ in Khajuraho before the incredible ruins of Sarnath in Varnasi.
The train features two extravagant restaurant cars, where an array of Indian and international cuisine – freshly prepared by on-board chefs – is served in a full fine-dining service. There is also a bar car, which is a great place to enjoy old-world charm and hospitality along with a drink. In addition, the Rajah Club lounge is an excellent boutique offering a casual atmosphere as well as a selection of beers, wines and spirits.
Board the overnight flight from London Heathrow to Delhi, arriving on Day 2. Transfer to your hotel for a relaxed evening. On Day 3, transfer to Delhi Railway Station to embark the Maharajas’ Express, where you will begin the journey to Agra. On arrival, enjoy a visit to the Taj Mahal, followed by other optional activities before heading back to the train tonight.
This morning you visit the Agra Fort. Ranthambore National Park is your destination this afternoon, where you enjoy a game drive in an attempt to spot an elusive tiger. This evening, the train journeys to Jaipur. On Day 5, you visit the Amber Fort. This afternoon you can choose to visit City Palace and Observatory or take a local city tour. In the evening, you enjoy dinner at Rambagh Palace.
Enjoy the countryside views over breakfast this morning, before arriving into Bikaner, where you have the option to either relax onboard, visit Lalgarh Museum or take a local city tour. This afternoon, proceed to visit Junagarh Fort, followed by an evening’s entertainment at Sand Dunes.
This morning you arrive in Jodphur, where you have the option to tour Bishnoi Village, take an excursion to Umaid Bhawan Palace and Jaswant Thada, or enjoy a local city tour. Later, visit the Mehrangarh Fort, followed by a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower market. This evening you’ll have an exclusive cocktail dinner, before re-joining the Maharajas’ Express and leaving for Udaipur. On Day 8, you take a boat ride on Lake Pichola followed by a visit to City Palace and Crystal Gallery. This evening, enjoy an ‘Indian Evening’ on board.
Today is spent travelling to Mumbai, where you disembark the train this afternoon and transfer to your hotel. On Day 10 you fly home, arriving the same day.
