Explore Egypt
Situated on the North of the African continent, Egypt is a country that is almost entirely desert. It is home to one of the most fascinating wonders of the world, the Pyramids and Sphinxes, as well as the life-giving river Nile.
Egypt has one of the longest histories in the world, with civilization along the Nile dating back to the 4th millennium BCE. This brings a wealth of culture to explore in the form of food, architecture, communities, religion and ruins. Many of our Egypt tours cover the Great Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum, the Valley of the Kings and more ancient ruins sites, where you can learn about this fascinating history and culture.
One of the main and most impressive attractions to visit during your time in Egypt are the Pyramids. The only surviving great wonder of the world attracts millions of visitors each year, including some of the world’s leading archeologists. There are many tombs and Egyptian statues to explore around the site, transporting you back to ancient times. Why not also visit the Egyptian Museum, holding some of the most spectacular ancient treasures, artefacts and artwork.
If it’s marine life that excites you the most, Egypt has some of the best snorkelling and diving sites in the world. The red sea is abundant with vibrant coral reefs and thousands of animal species such as sharks, rays and tropical fish. Hurghada and Sherm El Sheik are some of the most popular destinations for this kind of holiday, due to their access to the reefs. The beaches in these locations are nothing short of beautiful, with crystal clear waters showcasing the reefs below.
The great River Nile provides a cool escape from the blazing heat of the desert, and along its shores is where the majority of Egypt’s population lies. Why not discover the beauty of the surrounding nature and historical culture on a Nile River cruise. Whether you start in Luxor or Aswan, you can soak up the spectacular temples engraved with hieroglyphics dating back to ancient times that line the shore, as well as the amazing animals that reside on the river banks. The cruises allow you to sit back and relax in luxury while enjoying these incredible views.
With Egypt being almost entirely desert it experiences very hot and dry weather during the summer months, as well as warm winter months. The autumn, winter and spring months are some of the best months to visit as they have cooler temperatures, but still reach 25-30°C during the day. It can be common for the khamaseen, a hot sandy wind, to occur during the spring season so it would be better to visit during the autumn months to avoid this.
December to January are usually the most popular months for tourists to visit, so the main attractions such as the Pyramids and ruins sites will be very busy. Evenings during these months can be cool and so you may need to bring a jacket to keep warm.
Summer in Egypt can reach extremely high temperatures, with places such as Luxor and Aswan reaching 45°C. It is better to avoid travelling in July or August unless you are staying near the coast as it is uncomfortably hot.
